About You and This Role
Monumental is currently seeking a meticulous and hands-on Electronics Technician to strengthen our technical capacity. As an integral part of our mechatronics team, your primary responsibility will be to support the development, prototyping and manufacturing of our state-of-the-art autonomous construction robots. These include everything from mobile ground vehicles to precision-controlled cranes and innovative supply mechanisms that work together to autonomously construct buildings.
In this position, you’ll take ownership of electronics-related assembly, including wiring, PCB population, cabling and electrical testing. You’ll also be deeply involved in troubleshooting and root cause analysis, helping maintain and enhance our existing fleet. Your practical knowledge and ability to implement high-quality hardware solutions will help transform theoretical designs into functional systems deployed on real-world construction sites.

What You’ll Be Working On
- Carrying out electronic assembly work such as soldering components, preparing wiring harnesses, building prototype systems and assembling PCBs for our fleet of robots.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware malfunctions, including component failures, wiring issues and sensor inaccuracies.
- Collaborating with engineers from both the software and hardware sides to iterate on system designs and improve real-world functionality.
- Participating in hands-on testing and field deployments of construction robots, where you’ll provide technical expertise, log diagnostics and support live troubleshooting.
- Implementing and maintaining standardized procedures for electronic testing, ensuring that every prototype meets reliability benchmarks.
- Performing scheduled maintenance on our deployed robotic units, checking for wear and tear and ensuring readiness for deployment on construction projects.
- Managing component inventories, highlighting shortages and suggesting better ways to streamline procurement and minimize bottlenecks in production.
- Contributing feedback on design iterations based on field experience, suggesting alternative solutions for better reliability, manufacturability and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- You have a strong foundation in electronics, demonstrated through practical experience in assembling, testing and debugging hardware systems.
- You’re comfortable interpreting schematics and can handle tasks such as crimping connectors, soldering both surface mount and through-hole components and troubleshooting circuits.
- Your toolkit includes familiarity with standard lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies.
- You’ve worked in environments where things move fast and priorities shift. You’re agile and capable of juggling multiple priorities while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Your communication style is clear and collaborative – you can convey issues, suggest solutions and work seamlessly with engineers from various disciplines.
- You hold at least a B.Sc., MBO or HBO qualification in a relevant field, along with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on, relevant work experience in electronics or hardware-related fields.
- You possess a high level of self-motivation and ownership and thrive in startup-like settings where experimentation and initiative are encouraged.
- Bonus: Experience in robotics, automation or construction equipment would be advantageous but is not a strict requirement.
